Yesterday, I met this guy and girl while buying fruit salad.
I was minding my business when the girl casually said, “I love your necklace.” I looked up and she smiled at me and continued, “it’s just like my earrings”. My pendant was a copy of her earrings.
I said thank you, smiling shyly. Then, went back to minding my business. She didn’t stop there though. She went on.
“You have a beautiful smile, what’s your name?” She said, still holding unto her smile. “She really is beautiful”, the guy I only just noticed said.
“Yvonne.”
“Gorgeous…”, she seemed impressed with my name.
I was just smiling😂 and I forgot to ask for her name, so she was the one who introduced herself. I asked for the guy’s name and he answered.
Funny enough, the guy’s name was a continuation of the girl’s name. I was curious. “Did you guys know each other before camp?”
They smiled and shook heads. They had this beautiful synergy going on. It was quite impressive since they probably met a week ago. He knew she like cashew nuts in her fruit salad and when we conversed, they seemed like longtime friends. Along the line, we found out we were all from Delta state and she murmured something about “missing pieces”
We said our goodbyes when we were given our plates of fruit salad. I didn’t get their number and I might not see them again. Or maybe I will. And we will say hi and pass. Or start up another conversation. I don’t know
But something about that moment stuck to me. And it’s all because the girl decided to say hi with a sprinkle of specific complements.
